This week affords us one of the biggest holidays of the year. Thanksgiving is a time to get together with family and close friends, and enjoy one another's company. Many Thanksgiving traditions involve football. Most all involve food. Which got us thinking: how would we compare our beloved Blue Jackets as Thanksgiving courses?
Who's the turkey?
The absolute must have for a traditional Thanksgiving meal: a big, juicy bird. Roasted, deep fried, smoked; whatever your pleasure, it just doesn't feel like Thanksgiving without it. After all, many of us actually call it "turkey day".
So if you asked us to pick one player that the Blue Jackets must have, it's an easy answer. Zach Werenski. Zach is easily the team's MVP through the early part of this season, recently earning first star of the week honors from the NHL after leading the entire league in scoring (2 goals, 9 points in 3 games) last week.
He's been Mr Everything for the Blue Jackets so far, leading the entire NHL in average time on ice, playing virtually half of every game and in all situations. We saw firsthand what happens to this team without a healthy Zach, when he missed basically the entire season two years ago. That was one of the worst years in franchise history, which underlines his importance to this franchise. With no Zach, we're not having a good holiday. He's definitely thawed and ready for the big day.
Shall we look at some side dishes?
