The Columbus Blue Jackets organization reportedly offered a trade for Matt Duchene in June. As nothing happens, frustration sets in for both Duchene and Columbus.

Frustration is setting in for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Matt Duchene. In an interview with Sportsnet.ca, Duchene talked of his frustrations with not only the offseason, but his last season with Colorado. He said he burnt out in January of 2017 and had to struggle through the rest of the season.

Certainly this offseason has been no different. With Sakic digging his feet on trade demands for Duchene, the rumors and speculation have dragged on. No one expects Duchene to stay with Colorado but if a move is not made soon, Matt Duchene could be stuck with the Avalanche until the trade deadline.

Duchene notes to Ryan Dixon that he still does not know where he is going to be playing next season. This unknown is surly frustrating Duchene as he looks to bounce back from a poor 2016-2017. A season that was dragged down by Sakic’s stubbornness could lead to another poor season for the young center.

Frustration builds as time runs out

The frustration with Joe Sakic builds within the Columbus Blue Jackets and Duchene as training camp inches closer. Not to say that Duchene wants to come to Columbus but he wants to know his future playing spot.

If a trade is not completed by September, a trade will likely not take place until the trade deadline. It would be a foolish move on the part of Sakic though because Duchene is loosing value every day he does not get traded. Teams are becoming comfortable with their lineups and looking forward to options without Duchene.

A once loved hockey player has turned into a crazy leader on a quest that will yield him nothing but disappointment. Trade Duchene now or regret being so stubborn and let Blue Jackets fans and Duchene get on with their lives Joe.
