The first game against the Hurricanes was played in Raleigh on September 18th. The Blue Jackets were led by Marian Gaborik, Brandon Dubinsky, and Boone Jenner, who were actually playing on a line together, and were on fire! Gaborik scored twice, Jenner had a goal and an assist, and Dubinsky had three assists. Curtis McElhinney and Mike McKenna split the time in net for Columbus, McKenna did not get scored on by the way. Cam Ward played all sixty minutes for the Hurricanes.

The Blue Jackets played their final preseason game last night, the 26th. CBJ was the home team this time around, but unfortunately they did not get the same result as they did in Raleigh. Both teams went with their starting goaltenders, Bobrovsky had twenty-one saves, while Ward had twenty-five saves. Little Nathan Gerbe posted two goals for Carolina to seal the victory. Nikita Nikitin scored the only goal for the Blue Jackets.
