2) Goaltending

All eyes were on the Blue Jackets this offseason as they tied down the Vezina Award winning goaltender for at least two more years. Sergei Bobrovsky decided to stay in Columbus and continue his NHL career as a Blue Jacket. It wasn’t an easy road for the fans, or the front office for that matter. In the end though, both sides prevailed and in my opinion put together a solid deal for both parties.

Once all the drama was over, I am sure that Bobrovsky wasted no time and began his offseason training (knowing his work ethic and determination, he was probably already knee deep into his training). Coming into this season Bobrovsky has to be looking forward to continuing his strong play in net, especially with a full 82 game season and having the ability to find his rhythm and win plenty of games.

Bobrovsky no longer has to carry this team on his back though, even though he will still have to make spectacular saves, as every goalie does, but he no longer has the weight of the team on his shoulders. JD and Jarmo not only added depth to the organization but they also added another aspect, which you will see in the #3 reason, an aspect of the Blue Jackets game that was lacking, but hopefully has been solved.
