A few words come to mind to describe this next moment: memorable, deafening, and electric. It was the home and season finale in front of a standing room only crowd of 19,002 people against the Nashville Predators. The atmosphere at this game was unreal, even though the Blue Jackets started slow, they finished strong in route to a 3-1 victory.

The Blue Jackets went into this game knowing it was a must win if they wanted any shot at making the playoffs. That being said, the Blue Jackets headed into the third and final period trailing 1-0, and it wasn’t until 9:51 left in the period that Brandon Dubinsky and the Blue Jackets finally solved Chris Mason and found the back of the net. The score was 1-1, and they weren’t done there. Five minutes and three seconds later, Jack Johnson put the Blue Jackets up for good, and 19,002 fans lost their Blue Jacket loving minds.

Cam Atkinson finished the scoring with an empty net goal, and the final score was 3-1. The Blue Jackets had done their part, and the only thing they could do then was wait and see what happened in the Minnesota vs. Colorado game. Nationwide Arena kept the doors open late to let fans watch the final half a period of that game, and a good amount of fans stayed. That game didn’t go our way(stupid Avalanche), but that final game along with that magical season gave the fans and this city hope, something it has not seen or felt with our team in a long time.
