The season may be over for the Columbus Blue Jackets. But it's not over for their new-found starting goaltender. Jet Greaves will reportedly play for Team Canada at the upcoming World Championship.

Greaves played in 55 games for the Blue Jackets this year, earning a 26-19-9 record while posting a .908% save percentage, 2.60 goals against average, and 2 shutouts.
The 25 year old emerged onto the NHL scene in a big way in his first full season in Columbus. He finished ranked amongst the top goaltenders in the league across most categories, including goals saved above expected (per MoneyPuck.com).
Now due a new contract with the Blue Jackets, Jet will get the chance to further prove his worth on a bigger stage. This is a huge opportunity for him to show the world what he can do on a bigger stage.
Playing for Team Canada is an honor at any tournament.
Though I'm sure Jet is disappointed to not be playing playoff hockey right now, this is an exciting chance for him. The World Championship tournament traditionally features some of the best players in the world; often in this exact scenario (those whose teams are not in the playoffs).
For a player who went undrafted and took the difficult road to the NHL, this is a tremendous honor. He has never represented Canada at any level, so it's quite an impressive feat for the young netminder.
This is only going to push his contract cost up.
Earlier today, we talked about Jet's importance to the team and what that might mean for his next contract-due this summer. Playing in this tournament is only going to help his cause-especially if he does well.
Imagine how much value his representatives could place on a medal at the World Championship tournament. Especially if it's gold.
We are very proud of Jet, and excited to see him represent his country on such a large stage.
