Day two of the NHL Draft gets under way this morning. At the start of the day, the Blue Jackets had 5 picks in hand, but they added more capital throughout the day and ultimately made 6 selections.
They wound up picking #94 overall (round 3), #121 (round 4), #142 (round 5), #182 + 185 (round 6), and #206 (round 7). They picked 7 players in total, including yesterday's first rounder.
Blue Jackets select Oscar Hemming #14 overall.
In case you missed it, the Blue Jackets selected LW Oscar Hemming with their first round pick last night. We were very excited, as the big sniper could be a strong power forward for this team at some point down the road.
He's a bit of a project, who will return to Boston College this fall. But, we will get a glimpse of him at the team's development camp, which takes place next week. Odds are, some of the other players they nab today will be there as well.
Hemming likely becomes the top prospect on either wing, in the entire organization. He brings a rare combination of size, skill, shooting ability, and physicality; the kind that most teams are frequently seeking.
Even though ESPN sucked the air out of our moment, we can't let that detract from our excitement to see this guy picked up by the Blue Jackets. It will be fascinating to see how he develops, and I don't think he's terribly far away from playing in the NHL.
Third round (#94 overall): C Alessandro Di Iorio (Sarnia Sting, OHL)
The Blue Jackets had to wait quite a while to announce their first pick of the day. Near the end of the third round, they have selected center Alessandro Di Iorio from the OHL's Sarnia Sting.
The 6'1", 195 pound pivot was ranked anywhere from the late-50s, to the late-80s in this draft. He scored 12 goals and 31 points in 45 games this season, along with a -37 rating and 16 penalty minutes. He's touted as a highly competitive 200-foot player that coaches love.

Fourth round (#121 overall): LW Evan Jardine (Youngstown, USHL)
The Blue Jackets finally made their fourth round pick, 20 spots after we expected. After picking up some future draft capital, they select LW Evan Jardine from right up the road in Youngstown.
He scored 27 goals and 61 points in 53 games this season, adding 70 penalty minutes. The 6'0", 185 pounder has committed to the Ohio State University this fall.
Fifth round (#142 overall): G Parker Snell (Edmonton, WHL)
With their fifth round choice, the Blue Jackets have selected goaltender Parker Snell from the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings.
The 6'2", 176 pound netminder posted a 12-9-1 record, with a .895% save percentage and 2.74 goals against average this season. He also went 2-1-1 in the playoffs, with a .924%, 2.22 stat line.
Sixth round (#182 overall): F Anttoni Uronen (Finland)
With the first of two picks in the late sixth round, the Blue Jackets select Finnish forward Anttoni Uronen.
The 6'1", 201 pounder scored 2 goals and 10 points in 27 games playing in Liiga, which is Finland's top league. He's touted as strong two-way player that likes the physical side of the game.
Sixth round (#185 overall): D Jonas Woo (Medicine Hat, WHL)
Just three picks later, the Blue Jackets picked up defenseman Jonas Woo from the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. He's heading to Arizona State University to play college hockey this fall.
At 5'9" and 175 pounds, he absolutely bucks the trend that Don Waddell has put together through all of his other picks so far. He's an undersized, puck moving defenseman who can put up a lot of points.
This season, Jonas scored 29 goals and 86 points in 56 games in the Western Hockey League.
Seventh round (#206 overall): F Filip Novak (Sparta Prague U20, Czechia)
With their final pick in the draft, the Blue Jackets have selected Czech forward Filip Novak.
He's another bigger bodied kid that is touted as an explosive, strong skater. At 6'1" and around 200 pounds, he posted 11 goals and 35 points in 28 games in the Czech junior league this year, adding 60 penalty minutes.
