Both trades made by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the last two days have only made the team better. Keep it coming Jarmo Kekalainen, as fans we want to see the Blue Jackets get past the first round of the playoffs!

Two trades in two days have the Columbus Blue Jackets loaded up for a big playoff push going into the end of the regular season. It’s been a decade since the Blue Jackets have been past the first round of the playoffs, Jarmo is hoping with these late season trades being made for goal scorers, they will propel this team deep into the playoffs.

More from Union and Blue

Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel are two additions that could absolutely help propel this team into an offensive frenzied playoff run. The Blue Jackets now have six players with over 20 goals scored this year on the roster and don’t count out the captain Nick Foligno with 15 goals scored currently. This team is looking to run the table as they have now posted two shutouts in back to back games while acquiring these new players.

Alright, I’ll say it, Anthony Duclair was not a good fit for this team. He’s a sub par player with speed, but lie John Tortorella said, “I don’t think he knows how to play.” Tortorella continued with, “I don’t know if he can’t comprehend it or he’s just stubborn.”

Those are big statements coming from a well-respected coach about a player that was supposed to be an asset to the team. Watching Duclair play this year was very off-putting. He would play hard when he had a chance at handling the puck but was nowhere to be found on defense. I would say selfish is still a little easy on how he seemed to play to me.

Moving forward, trade wise, I’d hope the Blue Jackets would only be adding additional talent and not offloading talent, but if you’re trying to win now, I’d expect Wennberg and Bobrovsky will be shopped around but not dealt unless an offer blew Jarmo away.
