2. Enjoy Some Free Evenings

With 82 games in the year, there are plenty of Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night’s devoted to watching grown men skate around and hit each other. And we love it and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

But it’s nice to enjoy your evening doing something with a friend of significant other that may not enjoy the game as much as you. Go check out a new restaurant or a movie. Paint that room in your house you’ve been talking about doing but haven’t got around to because you just can’t miss the Jackets take on the Canucks on a November Tuesday.

Or just head to bed at 9:30 at night if possible. It’s amazing how much you can do the next day if you get to bed before 10pm.

1. Charge Up Your Batteries for the Final Run to the Playoffs

The nine day break will be over before you know it and then the Columbus Blue Jackets will be on a crazy 34 game run in just over two months. There will be a trade deadline, playoff elimination, the “hopeful” resolution of the Panarin and Bobrovsky situation’s and whatever other chaos ensues.

There is only so much that you can prepare yourself for in the second half but you have nine days to do your yoga, meditate, or follow my lead, and stock up on your favorite mash beverage from Kentucky for those stressful nights.
