Grading the Columbus Blue Jackets November Goaltending Performance
The Columbus Blue Jackets month of November was built on solid play in net.
During the Columbus Blue Jackets stellar November performance, the offense played well above average while the defense left something to be desired. The reason why the Jackets took home 20 points in 14 games was the goaltending.
Sergei Bobrovsky was a star in net over his 10 starts. With an 8-2-0 record, Bob was back in Vezina form in the month of November and bailed out the Jackets on multiple occasions. Only two other teams faced a higher rate of high danger shots in the month of November and neither had as many saves as Bob according to NaturalStatTrick.com.
Bob’s .932 save percentage in November was the biggest reason why this Jackets squad had such a successful month. Even with a stellar November, his season save percentage is still only .911 due to a poor start.

Joonas Korpisalo had four starts in the month of November as well and although his performance wasn’t stellar, it was good enough to get some results. In his four starts Korpi went 1-1-2 with a .890 save percentage. He allowed at least three goals in all of his starts.
Korpi’s performance agains the Florida Panthers was a bright spot on the calendar as he stopped 40 of 43 shots against the Cats in a 7-3 Jackets win. A string of four great saves in the second period kept the Jackets in the game and will be remembered for a while in Columbus.
Overall it was a great month for the netminding duo with most of the credit going to Sergei Bobrovsky. His workload greatly increased and we can expect that to continue as the team continues through December.
The only thing that is keeping this from being an A or an A+ is Korpisalo’s performance. He had a great month in October but he really fell off in November. With the schedule lined up the way it is, I would be surprised if we see Korpi in net again until the weekend before Christmas.
