Columbus Blue Jackets Didn’t Completely Fail Test vs Toronto
The Columbus Blue Jackets played the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday.
Despite a Columbus Blue Jackets loss on Monday, the team played well against the league’s elite. The Toronto Maple Leafs are the NHL version of a super team. Composed of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Kasperi Kapanen, Morgan Rielly, Frederik Andersen and some guy named John Tavares.
Keeping it close with that level of talent, despite Matthews being out with an injury, shows how far the Blue Jackets have come.

They let the game slip away in the second and third period, however it’s nearly impossible to shut down an offense that dynamic.
Frederik Andersen stole the show for Toronto, against any other goaltender the Blue Jackets could’ve easily scored 4 to 5 goals with their scoring opportunities.
Cam Atkinson shone on a big stage by scoring a goal in his fifth straight game, bringing him closer to the role of a star that he rightfully deserves.
The biggest issue for the Blue Jackets was Sergei Bobrovsky and the lack of defense in front of him. While Bobrovsky didn’t have a bad game considering the scoring chances that Toronto created consistently and their goals were mostly impossible to save, statistically he has to put up better numbers than an .880. However it’s to be expected that some games will be worse than others, so this should get a pass for Bobrovsky.
Riley Nash continued to look lost, as his been a big part of the case since joining the Columbus Blue Jackets,
A majority of the goals scored by the Toronto Maple Leafs were a result of a play created by a star, whether it be Tavares putting it in the back of the net himself or Marner and Reilly setting up Zach Hyman to end the game.
The Columbus Blue Jackets can’t win every game, and they put up a good fight against an elite opponent. There’s nothing to be disappointed about for Blue Jackets fans and players.
