The Columbus Blue Jackets power play has now scored in two straight games.

The Columbus Blue Jackets power play has been a tale of horror up there with the movies synonymous with Halloween. It brought terror to all those who were forced to witness it. Until recently that is.

Anthony Duclair is the star of the Blue Jackets power play. That sentence would’ve made no sense just a couple months ago, but now Duclair seems like the biggest bargain free agent signing in the NHL.

More from Union and Blue

Duclair has four power play goals compared to the second highest on the team which is five players tied with a single goal. Duclair overall sits tied with Josh Anderson for the team lead in goals with 7 through sixteen games.

Zach Werenski has been a big part of setting up power play goals, as he has five power play assists and a power play goal. As a result he leads the team in power play points with 6 total.

A notable player missing from the power play score board is Artemi Panarin who has yet to record a goal on the man advantage, however he still has posted four assists on the power play.

As of now, the Columbus Blue Jackets have a power play percentage of only 14.5% which puts them in the fifth worst position in the league. It’s unlikely that Duclair will keep up his current pace of a power play goal every game for the rest of the season like he’s done the last two games, therefore it’s time for others to step up.

There’s still work to be done, however things are on the right path to success. Could the next few weeks be the difference between Brad Larsen keeping or losing his job? Potentially. It’s desperation time for the special teams, and they’re living up to that expectation.
