The Philadelphia Flyers find themselves in a familiar place. They are once again in an article talking about “Teams Needing a Goalie”.

The Flyers are in a tough spot. Michal Neuvirth is on the IR. Brian Elliott isn’t inspiring confidence and now the Flyers are relying on waiver pick up Calvin Pickard. Jackets fans don’t need to think back too far to know how Pickard is playing. The CBJ scored six goals on him just last week.

All three goalies are also on expiring contracts. Their salary totals just over $6 million, which gets the Flyers close to the number that Bob wants.

The Flyers traded Bobrovsky to the Jackets in 2012 and they have regretted it ever since. Could a return to the City of Brotherly Love be in the cards for Bob?

Possibly, but top goalie prospect Carter Hart is in the pipeline and the Flyers are very high on his future. Hart is in his first professional season backstopping the Flyers’ AHL affiliate in Lehigh Valley. Ideally the Flyers have him in the NHL next season but the 20-year-old might need another season in the AHL handling a full time workload.

The Flyers are an interesting candidate for Bob. They have the offensive pieces to make a playoff run but a budding star in the system. Is Bob worth the risk for this year before Hart arrives?
