Both the Columbus Blue Jackets and Cleveland Monsters suffered bad losses on Saturday.

The Columbus Blue Jackets bad tendencies continue to rub off on their prospects for the Cleveland Monsters. Fortunately head coach John Madden found a way to get it instilled in his teams’ heads to reduce the penalties. If he hadn’t, Saturday’s loss could’ve been much worse.

Kevin Stenlund got the first goal of the back-to-back for the Monsters roughly a third of the way through the first period. Stenlund’s goal would once again show off his phenomenal shooting ability that is a major reason for his future NHL career. The first period would end 1-0 in favor of the Monsters thanks to the Stenlund tally.

The second period wouldn’t go in Cleveland’s favor however, and the Penguins would score three straight goals. At the start of the second, Anthony Angello would tie it up. Just three minutes of game time later, Jimmy Hayes would give them the lead. Four minutes after that, Derek Grant would make it a 3-1 lead for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

That would be it for the goal scoring until the very end of the third when Teddy Blueger would make it 4-1 on an empty net goal to wrap things up for the night.

The Monsters penalty kill went a perfect 3 for 3, meanwhile the power play is continuing to struggle as they went 0 for 3.

Jean-Francois Berube had an off game for his standard, however he was still able to post a .900 save percentage. Meanwhile at the other net, Anthony Peters stole the show with 32 saves on 33 shots. Goaltending was certainly a major factor in this game, as the shots on goal were even most of the game.
