Lets take a look at a few notable games on the 2018-2019 Columbus Blue Jackets schedule.
The 2018-2019 schedule for the entire NHL was released and there is plenty to digest for Columbus Blue Jackets fans. From finding that mid winter trip to take to a warm destination, to the first matchup of the season against the defending Stanley Cup champs.
Here you can find the entire schedule for the squad. Let’s highlight just a few of the big matchups ahead for the Jackets this season.
Home Opener, October 5th vs Carolina Hurricanes
This game was released a day ahead with all of the other home openers but it is still a big one. The return of the NHL regular season after five long months to Nationwide Arena. The game will be the back end of a back-to-back for both teams.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Carolina Hurricanes are going to look very different than they do now as new owner Tom Dundon has made it clear that he will change the direction the franchise is headed. Everyone but Sebastian Aho and Martin Necas are on the trading block for the Canes.
First Chance at Revenge, November 9th at Washington Capitals
It was a tough first round knock out, no doubt about it. The Jackets lost four straight games to the eventual Stanley Cup champs after holding a 2-0 lead.
November 9th the Jackets will travel to Washington to face off against the Capitals for the first time in the season. They will have to look up in the rafters and see a Stanley Cup banner. They will be fully motivated for revenge.
First Game Hosting the Flightless Birds, February 26th
This is always a fun one. The Columbus Blue Jackets don’t get to host the Pittsburgh Penguins until late in the season though. The Jackets end up playing the Penguins in back-to-back home and away games in mid March as well.
Last season the Jackets never beat the eventual Metro Division winning Penguins. They will look to end that four game regular season losing streak on November 24th in Western Pennsylvania.
The Jackets have only 16 back-to-backs this season which is a reprieve from last year. They also will not play a single game on Wednesday this season.

Another thing to note is that the Jackets play seven Saturday games during the Buckeye football season including three home games. All three home games fall on Buckeye road games or an off week though so attendance shouldn’t be hurt too much.
