#2 Columbus Blue Jackets vs #3 Pittsburgh Penguins

The likely matchup. This one though, starting and ending in Central Ohio. The Columbus Blue Jackets holding home ice advantage against the Pittsburgh Penguins will be the likely series, especially if the Jackets can defeat the Pens Thursday at home.

The rivalry will be taken to another level if this series happens and the Jackets have a good chance to finally dethrone the Pens. They have better goaltending and a better defensive corps. They also have a blossoming center in Pierre-Luc Dubois who has shown he can hold his own against top flight centers like Connor McDavid.

This will all come down to the mental strength of the Jackets. The Pens seem to be in their head but with home ice advantage this series should be a coin toss.

This is the series most of us, myself included, want to see. It won’t be the greatest chance to move on but would be the best opening series and certainly the sweetest if the CBJ win.
