The Columbus Blue Jackets lose once again, dragged down by a nonexistent offense.

The broken record is beyond annoying. The Columbus Blue Jackets only score one goal and lose a game that they need to win to keep pace in the Metro division. The Sharks take a chunk out of the Jackets with a 3-1 win in Columbus.

The Sharks were able to score two goals on the power play including the game winning goal that came on a 5-3 opportunity. Sergei Bobrovsky was beat after a terrible Nick Foligno left the Jackets in an impossible 5-3 situation.

That penalty and general lack of impact, forced Coach Tortorella to bench the captain for the remainder of the second period and well into the third. Nick was clearly upset after the game.

This team will only go so far with Nick playing the way he has lately. He knows he has to turn it around and will look to do so tonight.

Poor Bob

All of this terrible play is taking away from the incredible run Bob has been on. He only allowed 14 even strength goals in his last 10 games. Including only giving up one goal during even strength last night.

The Columbus Blue Jackets offense and terrible penalty kill have all but doomed this team even though Bobrovksy is playing as good as a goalie can. The Jackets have all but assured he will not be winning back to back Vezina trophies which is a shame because of how well he is playing right now.

The Jackets are not a bad team, they are just playing awful currently. I don’t doubt that they can turn it around but I don’t know when or how they will do it. It has to start with the offense for sure though. One goal isn’t going to do it.

Next: February Make or Break Month

Tonight the Jackets will look to rebound agains the New York Islanders in Brooklyn.
