The Columbus Blue Jackets are dealing with many injuries and personal issues but none more intriguing than Brandon Dubinsky‘s situation.
The last few months have been tough for Brandon Dubinsky. The Columbus Blue Jackets center story has taken another turn and there is still so much we don’t know.
Before the Columbus Blue Jackets loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, Dubinsky left the team and headed back to Columbus. Following the game, Aaron Portzline of the Athletic reported that it was a disciplinary action, the second such action taken against Dubinsky this season. The first of course being the loss of the Alternate Captaincy before the season started.
Jarmo did not comment but Dubinksy’s agent Kurt Overhardt, told the Columbus Dispatch that it was due to mutually agreed upon medical reason. That was confirmed by Columbus Blue Jackets spokesman Todd Sharrock.

Medical or Otherwise, Not Good News
Quite frankly it seems like the originally reported disciplinary reason for his early departure seem to be less and less likely every day. But the injury reason is not good either.
Dubinsky had been recovering from off season wrist surgury which is notoriously tough to recover form. The center spend the summer recovering and still had some lingering affects heading into the season. Add on top of that his broken orbital bone and the Jackets projected 2nd line center is in rough shape.
The Jackets are thin down the middle and need Dubinsky back if they hope to make any sort of a playoff run. Pierre-Luc Dubois‘ emergence has helped fill the gap but Alexander Wennberg‘s injury and lackluster play have left a noticeable void at center.

Whether it is health issues or disciplinary issues, the Columbus Blue Jackets don’t look like they are getting Dubinsky back at 100% any time soon. We have held off on publishing anything on this due to the amount of rumors flying around about Dubi and we caution readers to hold off on any quick judgements. We hope Dubi is back healthy soon and wish him well in his recover.
