While the Columbus Blue Jackets are in Las Vegas let’s take a look at their odds to win it all.

Through 47 games this year there probably aren’t too many Columbus Blue Jackets fans feeling confident enough to put money down on the squad. They have struggled to score goals, lost to teams they shouldn’t have, and relied on Sergei Bobrovsky too much.

But despite these problems they are still liked by the odds makers in Vegas. These numbers are from January 16th.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are the 11th best odds to take home Lord Stanley’s Cup this June. At 20/1 they are just behind the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers. That is likely to change now due to the injury to Kevin Shattenkirk that will certainly set them back.

Of course they have a little bit better odds to take home the Prince of Wales trophy for winning the Eastern Conference. As of the 16th they were 12/1 favorites. They are third in terms of Metropolitan teams behind the Washington Capitals at 5/1 and the Pittsburgh Penguins at 10/1.

Odds for the Vegas Golden Knights Game

If you happen to be in Vegas for the game and want to lay some dough down on the Jackets here are some options for you curtesy of the Westgate Superbook.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are an underdog and are a +145 on the money line. To those non-degenerates that means if you place $100 on the Jackets to win and they do, you win $145. By contrast the Vegas Golden Knights are -160. That means you have to bet $160 to win $100. The money line is straight up, without any spread or handicap.

Now if you want to get crazy you can bet the puck line. This introduces a spread of -1.5 goals for the favorite or +1.5 goals for the underdog. So if you were betting the puck line and bet on the Jackets, you would win in any scenario that involved the Jackets winning, or losing by one goal. If you placed a bet on the Knights, they would have to beat the Jackets by two goals or more. The oddsmakers have the Jackets as a -210 on the puck line.

For those wondering, if I was a betting man I would be putting money on the Columbus Blue Jackets on the puck line. I don’t see a scenario where the Jackets get run out of the building. It’s almost impossible to beat Vegas at home but I think Bob keeps it within one goal.

But my advice is just for fun of course.
