Columbus Blue Jackets Prospects: Kole Sherwood Net’s Hat Trick
The central Ohio native and Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Kole Sherwood shines with his first hat trick with the Kitchener Rangers.
Against his former OHL team Kole Sherwood put on a show. The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect potted three goals in a game against the London Knights. His hat trick led his Kitchener Rangers to a 4-2 victory.
Kole spent a decent amount of time with the big league team in training camp and played fine. The winger clearly has exceptional scoring ability. Last year with sub-par Flint Firebirds team Sherwood had 85 points in 60 games. 33 of those were goals. This season he has put up 11 points in his first nine games after getting traded from Flint to Kitchener.
The trade to Kitchener is going to help Kole grow as the Ranger team is a legitimate Memorial Cup contender. Those extra games will help him as he prepares for the AHL next season.

Kole is a part of a Central Ohio hockey boom. He is one of many who are making a name for themselves in the hockey world along with fellow Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Carson Meyer. Check out their interview with 10TV from this summer.
Peter Thome
Many of the Columbus Blue Jackets prospects playing overseas had a week off as tournaments and Champions League play was happening. One player that did stand out was goalie prospect Peter Thome.
Peter continued to start in goal with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. ND is a power in college hockey and have pumped out some great goalies in the past. Freshman Thome was given an opportunity following an injury and he continues to impress. Thome held the Miami Redhawks to four goals over two games and lead North Dakota to a win and a shootout win over the weekend.
These two 20-year-olds are impressing and are fun to watch on the CBJ off nights. There is always hockey to watch and these two should be at the top of your list to check out.
