The Columbus Blue Jackets host a fellow Metropolitan Division foe Carolina Hurricanes in NWA tonight. A big two points in the division is up for grabs.

Tonight the Columbus Blue Jackets look to end their three game losing streak. They look to do so against the Carolina Hurricanes at Nationwide Arena. The Hurricanes, like the Jackets, haven’t played since Tuesday.

We had the chance to talk to Andrew Miller, the site expert over at CardiacCane.com. Andrew gave us a look at the Canes and the upcoming matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Lansing Murphy (LM): The Carolina Hurricanes were a preseason favorite to make the playoffs. They are off to a slow start. What is the reason for the slow start?

Andrew Miller (AM): The offensive production has not matched up to the shots on goal or overall pressure applied. The Carolina Hurricanes consistently out shoots its opponents with little result.

LM: What is holding Sebastian Aho (and my fantasy team) back? What does he need to do to turn it around?

AM: Sebastian Aho is still setting his teammates up like he did last season, the goals just aren’t there yet. He’s missed some great opportunities and rung a few posts on sure goals. Give it time and he’ll get there.

PLAYOFFS??? TALKIN’ BOUT PLAYOFFS?

LM: The Hurricanes are last in the Metro right now. Do you think they can still make the playoffs?

AM: It’s early but this is a concerning trend. Canes struggles in the past to start the season have cost them many times before. It’ll be tough to see a playoff run out of this team.

LM: What do you think is this Columbus Blue Jackets biggest weakness?

AM: They’re not showing that same toughness and grit to grind out close games like they did last season. Too much reliance on Sergei Bobrovsky and Joonas Korpisalo to win them the game every night as well.

LM: How does this Metropolitan Division matchup play out?

AM: I see Columbus getting back on track with a two goal win. Carolina is struggling massively on the road right now.
