Columbus Blue Jackets: Thoughts from Winnipeg
The Columbus Blue Jackets knocked the doors off the Jets in Winnipeg by a score of 5-2.
The Columbus Blue Jackets finish their road trip to the center of the continent and finish the two game sweep.
Mike’s Three Stars of the Game
Joonas Korpisalo
Korpisalo had a poor start against the Chicago Blackhawks his last time out, but he was able to put up a quality start against a Jets team with a lot of young firepower. The Blue Jackets offensive production was what they needed in front of their young goalie. Joonas though played lights out which is needed occasionally. This gives Torts leeway to rest Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Defense
The Columbus Blue Jackets defense has continued to show that they are willing to continue to pinch up on the rush, and yesterday, it paid dividends. Jack Johnson and Zach Werenski both tallied goals.
Both of these goals came with Johnson and Werenski pushing down low into the zone. Along with two defenders scoring, Seth Jones was able to tally an assist. While they looked good on the offensive end, the Blue Jackets defense limited mistakes and was able to limit the Jets chances which was huge in front of Koripsalo.
Cam
Cam Atkinson was flying around the ice last night and it was no surprise that he was able to tally a goal. Atkinson was on a mission to get pucks on net with six shots on goal to end the night. The line with Panarin and Wennberg is going to continue to open Cam up for scoring chances. This was Cam’s third of the season, but they will come in bunches if he plays like he did last night.
Takeaways
The Columbus Blue Jackets won their fourth straight game and have started the season 5-1 for the first time since 2009-2010. This fiery start is different from years past where the Blue Jackets started off sluggish.

The Blue Jackets are built differently than years past and this truly showed last night. The CBJ are a faster and more skilled team, and this is coming to show on the scoreboard with the Blue Jackets tallying five goals for the second time in six games.
Blue Jackets fans need to be ready. The Jackets look like they are ready to make that leap that was thought to happen sooner in years past.
The Jackets are making me a believer more and more after each game. This team is special, so now is the time to jump on the bandwagon.
