This is the December outlook on the Columbus Blue Jackets 2017-2018 season. The cold will set in as the points begin to rack up.

The Columbus Blue Jackets December schedule sees the team not leave the eastern time zone. For the second month in a row. November saw a favorable travel schedule as well and you can read about all of that and Octobers outlook in the links below.

2017 October Outlook

2017 November Outlook

Long stretches of point producing games line the Columbus Blue Jackets schedule in November and continue into December. In the final month of 2017 the CBJ will not go west of the mighty Olentangy river.

15 games for the Union Blue line the schedule in December with three back-to-backs. There are some tough games on this stretch and none tougher then the two they will play on December 20th and 21st.

The Jackets will host the young explosive Toronto Maple Leafs on a Wednesday night you’re going to want to be at. The two youngest teams in the NHL will both look to build upon their surprising 2016-2017 seasons. Two of America’s brightest young players, Auston Matthews and Zach Werenski, facing off as they lead their top units. Sign me up for tickets to this game right now.

Following the Toronto game, the Columbus Blue Jackets will board a plane and head to face the defending Stanley Cup Champions for the first time in the 2017 season. The first of four matchups between the two rivals will be the first important measuring stick for the team.

I’d expect to see Korpi play in the Toronto game.  Torts will want Bob in for the Metropolitan division matchup. Mark your calendars and don’t do any holiday travel around these can’t miss games.

Other Notes from December

  • The Columbus Blue Jackets will play seven road games and eight at Nationwide Arena.
  • Eight of the 15 games will be played in the Metropolitan Division, including back to back games agains the Devils in early December.
  • Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oliers will make his only visit to Columbus on December 12th.
  • The Columbus Blue Jackets will play three consecutive games against Pennsylvania teams. December 21st at Pittsburgh, December 23rd vs Philadelphia, and December 27th at Pittsburgh again.
  • The Jackets will play another New Years Eve game, this time at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The College Football Playoff falls on New Years Day this year.

Plenty of bright spots on the December calendar this season. November and December have to be months where the Jackets rack up points as they head into the dog days of the season.
