Columbus Blue Jackets October 2017 Schedule Outlook
The Columbus Blue Jackets season is right around the corner. Let’s run through the first months schedule breakdown.
We are just about two months away from the start of the Columbus Blue Jackets season. With football here soon to distract us for the remaining days until hockey returns. The Jackets October should be a favorable month to open up the season.
The Jackets play 12 games in 22 days in the month of October. Only five of which will be match ups against playoff teams from 2017. The Jackets need to take advantage of an easy opening month of games.
The stretch is highlighted by four games at home over nine days. Every single game against teams that missed the playoffs. Seven points out of those would be fantastic.

Week 1
The first week contains the season and home opener for the Jackets against the Islanders. The October 6th game will certainly be a show as the CBJ will play for the first time since losing to the Penguins in the playoffs.
Nationwide Arena will be sold out and there will be plenty of great events surrounding the start of the season. The Jackets will then board the plan and head to Chicago for their first of three back-to-backs in the month. A fine opening test for the Jackets as they will face Brandon Saad in their second game of 2017.

Week 2
The first full week of the season will wrap up the Metropolitan division schedule for the month with games against a much improved Carolina squad and the Rangers coming to town. Three points in these two games would be ideal.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Jackets end the week in Minnesota against the Wild. Who can forget the last time the Jackets played in the Twin Cities. Although it won’t be quite the game as last visit, it still should be a solid Saturday night game.
Week 3
Week three of October starts with the Jackets finishing the “Northern Middle of Nowhere” trip in Winnipeg. Columbus native Jack Roslovic will more than likely be playing for the Jets at this time.
After, the CBJ return home for their four game home stand starting with the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 19th. This is the most troubling game of the entire month in most mind.
The game comes off a challenging stretch where four out of five games are not in Columbus. The other is against a division rival.
Steven Stamkos and the recharged Lightning will be a force in the Eastern Conference. This will be the biggest game the Jacket face in the first month. All of you lovely fans will have a front row view for it as well. Thursday October 19th. Mark it on your calendar folks it’s going to be the biggest game of October.
Week 4
Since we started out with a compressed week we are going to end with a bit of a longer week. The Jackets will play Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Monday. One against a HUGE rival.

That Wednesday night game is of course against our arch nemesis the Buffalo Sabres. I can’t get wrapped up in that nonsense so just read the article above where I rant about it.
The Jackets will then play Winnipeg for the final time all year and then play two playoff teams. The Blues in St. Louis and the Bruins in Columbus.
The Jackets should have a decent start to the season. Some lower end teams and many of the games at home. This fast start should lead to a great season for the Jackets in 2017.
