Brett Lebda Defense; Born Jan 15 1982 — Buffalo Grove, IL; Height 5.11 — Weight 195 — Shoots L
NHL games played, 397 with 20 goals and 56 assists. He played 41 games for Toronto last year, and was released. He was not signed by a NHL team last summer, so he signed a contract with Springfield. He was recalled with all the defensive injuries and played 30 games for the Blue Jackets and played all righ, being fairly responsible with the puck . His career shooting % is .043
Aaron Johnson; Defense; Born Apr 30 1983 — Port Hawkesbury, NS ; Height 6.02 — Weight 211 — Shoots L; Selected by Columbus Blue Jackets round 3 #85 overall 2001 NHL Entry Draft Aaron has 281 games of NHL experience. But his statistics for 2011-2012 are very similar to 2006-07, both with Columbus. He has a total of 17 goals and 45 assists. his career shooting % is .067.
My opinion:
- Brett Lebda. The fact that he could not get a contract with a NHL team last summer tells it all. He does not appear to be a player the Blue Jackets could build with. Short answer, No
- Aaron Johnson. Being 29 years old and having 5 years experience has made him wiser than when he played for Columbus, but it appears his skills have not grown much. I do think he did a fairly good job of not screwing up, but it does not look like he is the type of player you can build on. Solid, but not going to get better. Might be Ok for the 7th D man, but more like #8. sign him for Springfield. Short answer No
