Columbus Blue Jackets can’t get play to equal result in 2-1 loss to New York Rangers

95. Final. 1. 113. 2

The Columbus Blue Jackets were able to put together their best five-on-five effort in some time, but they couldn’t get the result to match the effort as a single goal wouldn’t be enough and the Blue Jackets dropped their fourth game in a row 2-1 to the New York Rangers.

As has been the usual in this slide the Blue Jackets find themselves on, there was a multi-goal period, but for the first time in this streak, they didn’t let that rattle them. And, the goals were pretty well spread apart. The second period saw Marc Staal net his second goal of the season with six minutes gone by in the period and then near the halfway point of the period, Chris Kreider lit the lamp for the ninth time.

After that, that’s all the Jackets would allow. Scott Hartnell was the lone goal scorer in the game for the Blue Jackets, going top shelf on Henrik Lundqvist while in motion, but other than that, Lundqvist stood tall. Way tall. Stopping 35 of 36 Blue Jackets shots. It was a milestone night for Lundqvist, as he won his 330th career NHL game, tying Harry Lumley for 21st all time.

Yes, you read that right. The Blue Jackets took 36 shots tonight, compared to just 26 from the Rangers. That’s something positive to take away, right?

I was unable to watch much of tonight’s game (I only saw the final five minutes live), which is why I can’t give any analysis. That’s why I turn to you! I asked you guys on twitter what you thought about the game, and you responded.

To be completely honest, I forgot all about tonight being Josh Anderson’s debut, but that’s awesome to see he made such a big impression on you all. Also, remember this morning when we were all baffled at the crazy lines? HCTR needed to change something to spark the line up, and while they didn’t get the win, there certainly was a spark.

Little time to rest and worry about this result, as the Jackets are right back at it tomorrow in Bean Town.
