After being seen a potential steal at the 96th overall pick as he lead the CHL in points for players noted named Connor Bedard a few years ago, Jordan Dumais found himself often injured, riding the pine, and a healthy scratch towards the end of the AHL season in Cleveland. He needs to recover his game quickly, or faces losing out on his NHL shot all together.

The top prospects list was compiled by a collective ranking from all of the writers at Union and Blue: Matthew Duffey, Mike Stump, Weston Motz, Struan McNevan, and Curtis Deem. We only include players 24 years and under, with fewer than 25 NHL games. Stats are from the previous season, in the league where each player spent the most time. Projections are based on top-end upside.

Top prospect #15: RW Jordan Dumais

How we ranked him: Curtis (13), Mike (21), Matthew (13), Weston (18), Struan (12). Jordan was ranked #11 on last year's list.

Jordan Dumais is the former 96th overall pick, third round, in the 2022 NHL draft to Columbus. He quickly looked like a can't-miss prospect, despite his small stature at 5'9", 174 lbs, as he put up 140 points in the CHL in 2022-2023, second only to Connor Bedard that season, with the Halifax Mooseheads.

However, since then, Jordan has struggled with injuries, legal troubles, and finding a permanent position in Cleveland. In his final season in the QMJHL, he put up 47 points, but played in just 21 games. In the two seasons so far in the AHL, he's put up just 29 points in 67 games, a -11 rating, and was a healthy scratch throughout the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs for the Cleveland Monsters.

Dumais, when he's at his best, is a shifty offensive, playmaking winger that has the skill to make up for his lack of size and strength to be a force in the offensive zone more often than not. He has great mobility and skate speed for his size, but perhaps lacks the extension and stride speed you'd look for to see an elite-level skater for his stature.

  • Pros: Elite level playmaking ability, offensive zone intelligence, above-average skater
  • Cons: Extremely undersized without the physicality to make up for it, off-ice concerns, still needs to add extension and stride to his skating
  • Projection: Middle-Six Playmaking Winger

The pedigree that Dumais carried as a CHL standout is still there, without a doubt, and there's a case to be made that he could still become more than a bottom-six, 20+ assists guy for the Jackets down the line. But there's greater concern now than there was in his D+1 year. The Jackets could absolutely use Dumais to turn out to be a top-six winger with 70+ points in him in the NHL, but he has to turn around his production now, or he faces his spot at the NHL being
