The Columbus Blue Jackets faced the Philadelphia Flyers in a divisional match-up.

The Columbus Blue Jackets snuck out with a close one against the Philadelphia Flyers with a final score of 4-3 in overtime.

It was a back and forth first period, with the Philadelphia Flyers taking an early lead thanks to a Claude Giroux snipe on an odd-man rush roughly six minutes into the first period. Seth Jones would tie it up on a weak goal allowed by Anthony Stolarz that shouldn’t have gone in, however the Blue Jackets wouldn’t complain.

Brandon Dubinsky handed the Blue Jackets the lead late in the first on a redirection of a Scott Harrington shot from the point. That seemingly wouldn’t last long as Sean Couturier would tie it at two not long after.

John Tortorella and the rest of the coaching staff would take a look at the goal however, and challenge it for offside. After the review of a very close play, the call would be overturned and the lead would go back in favor of the Blue Jackets.

Not much would happen in the second period scoring wise, however there would be quite a few penalties. At the end of two, the Blue Jackets would be 0/5 on the power play and the Flyers would be 0/2 with time remaining on their third power play.

Boone Jenner would give the Blue Jackets a two goal lead, however Travis Sanheim would score his first two goals of the season for the Flyers to tie it up in the third. Despite some very close opportunities for the Flyers to take the lead, Sergei Bobrovsky would keep the game tied going into overtime.

Quickly into overtime, Cam Atkinson would extend his point streak finding Seth Jones wide open in the middle of the ice who would shoot it just over Stolarz’s glove to end the game.

The Columbus Blue Jackets won a game they probably should’ve lost thanks to the struggles in the third period, however they’ll gladly take a win instead.
