Columbus Blue Jackets prospects had a solid week on the ice but the big news is Liam Foudy is hurt.

The Columbus Blue Jackets first round pick from this summer’s draft missed a weekend of OHL play as he is dealing with an “upper-body” injury. According to Ryan Pyette of the London Free Press reported that Liam Foudy is out with an upper body injury.

The speedster Foudy was off to a good start with eight points in seven games for the London Knights before the injury. It isn’t expected to cripple the youngsters year though as Foudy is listed as day-to-day.

Elsewhere in the CHL, Trey Fix-Wolansky continues his scoring tear. Another week, the same result. In two games Fix-Wolansky had three goals and two assists for the Edmonton Oil Kings. Trey is now up 23 points in 14 games.

He also was named to Team WHL for the Canada-Russia series ahead of the World Junior Championships. Fix-Wolansky was one of 20 players selected from the Western League. He joins the aforementioned Liam Foudy who will participate in both OHL games against team Russia in the six game series split between the three junior leagues.

#1 Ohio State Splits with UMass

The top ranked Ohio State Buckeyes squad with Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Carson Meyer split their weekend series with the UMass Minutemen. Meyer had two goals in the Buckeyes Friday night 6-3 loss.

Elsewhere, Andrew Peeke and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish swept Nebraska-Omaha with Peeke adding an assist in the two games.

Goalie Peter Thome’s rough start to the year continues as Minnesota State-Mankato scored four goals on Thome before he was pulled in the second period.

In the SHL, Emil Bemstrom had a two point game for Djurgardens on Saturday and Thursday this week. Jonathan Davidsson added a goal as well. Djurgardens only plays one game this week.

2018 3rd round pick Markus Karlberg scored his first goal of the season for Leksands IF in the Allsvenskan this week as well.
