The Columbus Blue Jackets travel to the Motor City for their opening night bout against the Detroit Red Wings.

Big roster moves for the Columbus Blue Jackets as Ryan Murray will be in the starting lineup tonight. The former number two overall pick suffered a peculiar injury when he was kicked in a place that no person wants to be kicked in.

He has recovered nicely and will be a nice injection into the d-corps that is still without Seth Jones. Scott Harrington has been placed on injured reserve to give the Jackets a 23 man roster. He sustained an injury against the Penguins.

Harrington is considered day-to-day and could theoretically play on Friday. That would involve the Jackets sending a player down to Cleveland though

Tonight the Jackets will rollout their top four lines as envisioned at the start of the preseason.

The defense of course will be shuffled around as they deal with Jones’ injury.

Sergei Bobrovsky

The other big news of course is Joonas Korpisalo starting the season in net. Don’t read anything into this though. Bob will start tomorrow at home when the Jackets take on a Metro division opponent in the Carolina Hurricanes.

Detroit Red Wings

The wings will be rolling out a new look lineup with some youngsters and no Henrik Zetterberg. A lot of these guys should be in Grand Rapids but injuries to the Red Wings have forced some call ups.

Anthony Mantha, Dylan Larkin and Michal Rasmussen are the  players to keep an eye on. Mantha might be the second fastest player in the NHL and Larkin will be the next captain of the Wings. Rasmussen is a 6’6″ rookie making his NHL debut and the Red Wings are high on his future.
