Columbus Blue Jackets 2018 Development Camp Details

The Columbus Blue Jackets will host their annual development camp at Nationwide Arena from June 25th until the 28th.

Just two days following the NHL Draft the Columbus Blue Jackets will host their annual development camp at Nationwide Arena. The three day on-ice camp will showcase some of the Jackets brightest stars in their farm system as well as a look at the newly drafted youngsters from Dallas this year.

The camp will consist of on-ice instruction from Columbus Blue Jackets Assistant Coach Kenny McCudden. Joining McCudden will be development coaches Gregory Campbell, Chris Clark and Jarkko Ruutu.

The coaching staff from the Cleveland Monsters will also be in Columbus for the camp.

Several prominent skaters will be in attendance including a handful that will be fighting for a spot on the NHL roster this season. Vitaly Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson and Eric Robinson will all be showcasing their talents and hoping to put on the union blue sweater in October.

Other players confirmed include goalies Peter Thome who plays at the University of North Dakota and 2017 draft pick Daniil Tarasov. Defenseman Andrew Peeke will look to build off a solid year at Notre Dame that including a Frozen Four and World Junior Championship appearance. 2017 draft pick Robbie Stucker will also join him on the blue line.

Also joining will be freshly signed forwards Kole Sherwood and Maxime Fortier. Both have come to the end of the junior hockey careers in Canada and will look to make some noise in Cleveland next year. Kale Howrath and Carson Meyer, both who will be playing college hockey will be in attendance along with 2017 draftee Emil Bemstrom. More to come on Bemstrom later today.

Monday, June 25
10-11 a.m: Group 1 On-Ice
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m: Group 2 On-Ice

Tuesday, June 26
8:45-10 a.m:  Group 2 On-Ice
10:30-11:45 a.m: Group 1 On-Ice

Wednesday, June 27
10-11a.m: Group 1 On-Ice
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m: Group 2 On-Ice

Thursday, June 28
10-11 a.m: Group 2 On-Ice
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m: Group 1 On-Ice
4:30-6:30 p.m: 3-on-3 Tournament

If you have never been to a development camp I highly recommend it. It’s a fun and free up close and personal look at future Columbus Blue Jackets. Plus it helps fill the hockey void in the doldrums of summer.
