The Columbus Blue Jackets may not have Seth Jones but the Bruins will be much more bruised up.

Tonight in Boston, the Columbus Blue Jackets will face a beat up Bruins squad. That hasn’t seemed to stop the B’s as they have won eight of their last 10 including coming off a 3-0 road win against Tampa Bay this weekend.

The Bruins will be without star center Patrice Bergeron who is still recovering from a broken foot. The Jackets should thank their lucky stars they don’t have to face a top line of Marchand – Bergeron – Pasternak. They also will be without forward David Backes.

Rookie phenom defenseman Charlie McAvoy is still injured as well as his partner Zdeno Chara. The deep blue line of the Bruins has been stepping up though. Tory Krug filled in nicely and had three assist on the Bruins’ three goals against Tampa.

Tonight the Bruins will look to be lifted by the NHL debut of U.S. Olympian and former Harvard player, Ryan Donato. The rookie was just recently signed and will join the team and look to fill in place of Bergeron. Donato scored five goals in South Korea for Team USA.

Jones and Josh

The Columbus Blue Jackets are dealing with some big injuries as well. Seth Jones, who was scratched in the 2-1 win against the Senators, has traveled with the team to Boston according to the Athletic.

The Jackets will play the following night in New York as well. Expect Jones to return either tonight or tomorrow. They can not afford to be missing their best defenseman for more than two games.

Josh Anderson is out as well with a knee issue. He was expected to miss four weeks with the injury that occurred on February 26th. The Jackets have not seemed to miss their second leading scorer that much though. The depth of the Jackets has finally come to fruition and the scoring is coming from all over in Anderson’s absence.

The back-to-back games in Boston and New York give the Jackets an opportunity to build on their playoff lead. With New Jersey losing Sunday and Florida losing Saturday they finally can gain some ground after seven straight wins.

Eight straight will not be easy against the second best team in the Eastern Conference. Puck drops in Boston at 7PM.
