The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Anaheim Ducks meet for the first time in the 2017-18 season tonight when the teams play at Nationwide Arena.
Last season, both the Columbus Blue Jackets and Anaheim Ducks were in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. But a quarter of a way through the new season, it looks like only one of them will end up there again.
Early on this season, the Ducks have faced some heavy injury issues. They’ve lost some of their best players and it has shown on the ice. The team sits in sixth-place in the same Pacific Division that they won last season due to their mediocre record and surprising performances from the projected bottom-half.

On the flip side, the Blue Jackets have looked good so far. The team sits atop the Metropolitan Division after 25 games thanks to an incredible run of games in recent weeks. Since a bad four-game losing streak, the team has bounced back and put on arguably their best goaltending and defensive performances of the year. In the last 10 games, the CBJ are 7-3-0, taking out some divisional foes along the way.
When these two teams played last season, the Blue Jackets took both games. Let’s hope that win streak can continue for our boys tonight.
