Columbus Blue Jackets ICYMI: Matt Calvert’s Generous Day
Columbus Blue Jackets winger Matt Calvert pays it forward, CBJ prospects play in World Junior Summer Showcase, and the metro gets better. Shocker.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have a beauty in Matt Calvert. We all know about the penalty killing, scrappy play and shorthanded game winning goals after have bleed out of his head. But the guy has a huge heart and loves his hometown of Brandon, Manitoba.
Calvert was able to raise over $50,000 for the Brandon Regional Heath Centre. It’s an amazing donation that will go a long way in this town of about 60,000. Also its great because I get to type centre spelled c-e-n-t-r-e. Love it.
Also love the paying it forward by Calvert. He recently made our list of top Jackets ever as well. Stuff like this further cements his legacy among fans in Brandon and Columbus.
World Junior Summer Showcase
Two of the Jackets prospects, including a top flight prospect, faced off in the World Junior Summer Showcase. Pierre-Luc Dubois playing for the Canada White team played Andrew Peeke of the U.S.A. Blue team.

Worth noting, Ohio native and New York Ranger prospect Tim Gettinger has two goals in three games. The 6 foot 5 inch forward weighs 220 pounds and is only 19-years-old. He could soon join J.T. Miller as another Ohioan on the Rangers scoring on the Jackets.
