Union and Blue would like to wish Columbus Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner a happy 24th birthday!

Boone Jenner was born on this day 24 years ago in Dorchester, Ontario. Jenner is one of the top Columbus Blue Jackets and a current alternate captain for the club.

At just 24, Boone has already played in 278 NHL games, where he has scored 73 goals and assisted on 56 more. The scrappy and unorthodox style of Jenner has also led him to become a fan favorite in the state’s capital.

Drafted 37th overall in the 2011 draft, Jenner is third in regular season games played of the second rounders chosen that year. He is currently only behind Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov and fellow Blue Jacket Brandon Saad.

Prior to getting drafted, Boone played two seasons with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. In 128 regular season games, Jenner accumulated 115 points and 148 penalty minutes. His playoff totals were better though as he scored 12 points in 10 postseason contests.

Boone has been iron man for the Jackets these past two seasons. He has played in every one of the CBJ’s 164 regular season games in that time.

Although his numbers regressed this past season when compared to 2015-2016, Jenner’s presence on the ice was extremely important in the Blue Jackets’ historic season. His leadership and grit seemed to push the team to previously unseen heights.

Hopefully we can say similar things on his 25th birthday. Have a good one, Boone!
