Good morning, Columbus Blue Jackets fans! WE ACTUALLY WON A PLAYOFF GAME THIS YEAR! It’s time to bring out the champagne and fancy cheese and celebrate. Alright, maybe not yet. But there’s a chance we could now.
Last night was a blast and then it was crap and then it was a blast again. By jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, the Columbus Blue Jackets showed that they wouldn’t go down without a fight. The Jackets are a team that is known for their grit, hustle, and perseverance. It definitely showed in Tuesday’s win.
The second period was not as fun, in my opinion. Despite Markus Nutivaara scoring his first Stanley Cup Playoffs goal of his career in his first SCP game, the Penguins stormed back to pull within one goal. Due to a Patric Hornqvist power play goal and a Ron Hainsey score, the Jackets clung to a 3-2 lead going into the final period.
The Jackets sealed it though in the final period. Behind goals by William Karlsson and Boone Jenner, the CBJ held on to win game four. The win is the first Stanley Cup Playoffs regulation victory for the Blue Jackets in the team’s history.
Let’s celebrate with some links and a cup of coffee!
