Tonight’s Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Buffalo Sabres game can be viewed on Twitter. This allows anyone outside the usual FOX Sports Ohio market to watch the playoff-bound Jackets.

If you are a Columbus Blue Jackets fan that lives outside of the FOX Sports Ohio market, you will be able to watch tonight’s game via Twitter. This will be the 9th game this season that the NHL has shown via the social media platform but the first time the Blue Jackets and Sabres will be featured. FOX Sports Ohio’s own Dave Maetzold hyped up the event on Twitter early Tuesday:

The NHL has had a history of experimenting with ways viewers watch the game of hockey. We all remember the “glow puck” from 1999 that FOX debuted during the All-Star game that year. I personally think the glow puck was just ahead of its time. If there was a way to make it look crisper, and less like a bad video graphic with modern high definition cameras, it would’ve been a better viewing experience.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are one of the biggest surprises in the league this year so I am sure there are plenty non-Ohio fans that will check out this game for a little bit to catch up on the CBJ as the playoffs draw near. Being able to watch Buffalo’s Jack Eichel skate around the ice is a nice viewing treat as well.

I have mixed feelings about this move. When I was younger, and the Jackets played multiple late night west coast games a year, I would sneak into the living room and watch the game on mute so my mom wouldn’t know I was awake. Now these spoiled little kids and their smart phones can just watch the game in their beds free of the fear of their parents. Very typical of the world we live in today. Kids will grow up soft and complacent without having to sneak in their late night hockey. Now if you would excuse me, I have to drink my prune juice and yell at the neighbor’s children to get off my lawn.
