The Edmonton Oilers are the eternal “team in transition”. For the last few years this team has had high draft picks and taken offensive players with a high upside. In this upcoming draft they again have the number one overall pick and are poised to take the generational talent of Conner McDavid. With Peter Chiarelli running the show and Todd McLellan coaching the team seems to have leadership talent that matches the talent of their plethora of first round picks.
The two games between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Edmonton Oilers this season were within five days of each other. The games also coincided with the end of season push that drove home the idea that a healthy Blue Jackets team was a force to be reckoned with.

These were entertaining games with lots of offense and two of the three stars of the series signify that.
Next year the Blue Jackets may have some trouble with the Oilers head to head. The weakness for the CBJ will be their blue line and the strength of the Oilers will be their ability to score. For the Jackets to have success Sergei Bobrovsky will either need to stand on his head or the Jackets will have to outscore the Oilers, which they can probably do
