Five Former Columbus Blue Jackets We Love To Hate

Adam Foote come on down, you are the next contestant on You’re A Jerk. Foote might have been the biggest name to come into Columbus as a free agent at that time. He was given the “C” but maybe a better letter to give him would have been a “D”. He played three seasons with the Blue Jackets, although he asked to be traded back to the Colorado Avalanche in the midst of the third season.

The Blue Jackets front office in one of their more clairvoyant thoughts back in those days, didn’t want to pay an aging defenseman. One who was becoming injured far to often, was never a mass producer of points, and wasn’t a top blue line caliber player anymore. The Blue Jacket’s offered him something around $3.5 million a year, but Foote held us hostage and forced a trade back to the Avalanche. Only to sign a deal with the Avalance for 2 years at $3 million per, later that year.

To make matters worse, whenever Colorado would visit Columbus in the following years he would somehow show up on the IR, or would be scratched, or had a hang nail or some other cowardly reason why he wouldn’t have to show his face in front of the Blue Jacket faithful. His delicate psyche must have not been able to accept the boos that would have rained down on him.

I can only imagine if he would have faced the music, we could have played this little ditty below on the scoreboard with his picture(mountain of a nose included) as all of Nationwide Arena serenaded him.
