Columbus Blue Jackets 2013 NHL Draft Picks: Rounds Two Through Seven
By Mark Huss
OLIVER BJORKSTRAND : Selected #89 in the third round
Team: Portland Winterhawks
League: WHL
Position: Right Wing
Stats: 31 goals, 32 assists, total of 63 points in 65 games played
Bjorkstrand is described as fast, good potential offensively, and above average puck skills.
From ISS Hockey 2013 NHL Draft Guide;
"A speedy offensive player with good creative instincts, Bjorkstrand burst onto the prospect scene last year playing in the WJC as a 16 year old and then following that up with a potent offensive display at the U18 World Championships. He has a good first step, but needs to improve his power in his legs. He loves the puck and can win space for himself well, but can also pass up opportunities to move it and try to make more moves with it at times."
HockeysFuture.com wrote an article on Bjorkstrand from just before the CHL Prospect game in which he describes his style of play and what he feels he needs to improve on.
"I’m an offensive player that can go in and score goals when the team needs goals. I can also play defensively when I need to, but mostly offense."
