Fig Leaves Are So Yesterday…Consider Maple.
The coolest hat I ever saw belonged to a Maple Leaf fan. I’m not sure if this was a homemade deal or a store-bought, but I loved everything about it…the spirit especially.
This was years ago. This guy was in an airport and I had just been told that I had a long delay. So down I sat with a Coke, a bag of Cheetos, and I started people watching. There he was, looking like he had a big red butterfly thing on his head. I couldn’t help but stare, didn’t really care if anyone noticed I was looking and was pretty well hidden anyway.
As luck would have it, he decided he needed a soft-drink (he kept calling it Pop) and he walked right past me. I finally got a good look at the hat…it was a beauty: Imagine a perfect maple leaf replica, about as big as jumbo pizza or smallish poster. Thinnish and colored exactly like the real thing. It floated on the guy’s head. I asked him if I could take a look…the jumbo leaf was fixed to a stocking cap thing…which was blue and around the cap, it said “Go Leafs Go Leafs Go Leafs” and right then and there, I knew this guy was officially cool. And very good looking…even with a big leaf on his head.
So…it’s easy when you’re a Leaf fan…what of all the Blue Jacket fans? How do we wear a cannon? Around The NHL in 30 Days continues with Toronto. Season preview on Editor in Leaf.
