The Columbus Blue Jackets season is over but one prospects season continues due to his heroics.

The seemingly never ending hockey season is still providing Columbus Blue Jackets fans with some great hockey to watch. In the Ontario Hockey League, prospect Kole Sherwood kept his team’s season alive with an overtime goal.

Sherwood’s Kitchener Rangers headed into game six of the OHL’s Western Conference Finals down three games to two agains the Mighty Soo Greyhounds. The Soo finished 26 points better than the number two team in the OHL and were expected to roll to the Memorial Cup. But Sherwood and the Rangers are giving them all they can handle.

With just 6:50 left in the first overtime Sherwood ended the game and forced a game seven with a greasy net front goal. Sherwood’s goal set up the Rangers to pull a huge upset and take game seven from the Soo.

Sherwood has been tearing it up in the playoffs. He has scored 13 goals and 11 assist in 17 games this post season. This will be his last year in the OHL and will look to prove himself in Cleveland next season.

Praise from Jarmo for Davidsson

In his exit interview, General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen praised a prospect that hasn’t got a ton of attention from the fanbase this season. Jonathan Davidsson, last year’s 6th round pick, had a stellar season in the SHL for Djurgårdens IF.

In 52 games he had 31 points and turned it on in the postseason. in Djurgården’s run to the finals, Davidsson paced the team with eight points in 11 games. Not bad for a 21-year-old.
