The Columbus Blue Jackets shut out the New York Rangers 2-0 on Friday. This is the third straight win for the Blue Jackets.

Three Stars For Columbus

Sergei Bobrovsky

Sergei Bobrovsky tallied his second shutout of the 2017-2018  season for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bobrovsky faced 36 Rangers shots, but none of them got past the Russian netminder. Sergei has been the leagues best goalie this season.

Sergei tallying a shutout is not surprising after his last two outstanding performances against Montreal and Detroit. The Blue Jackets took advantage of their hot goalie claiming two points. Columbus needs to ride Bobrovsky while he is hot.

Zach Werenski

The young defenseman was able to tally his second goal in as many games. Before these two goals, many were worried about him on the offensive end. Zach Werenski showed in Montreal and against the Rangers that he is able to put the puck in the net.  Werenski got a beautiful pass from Brandon Dubinsky and one-timed it in.

Artemi Panarin

Artemi Panarin scored his fourth goal of the season, and it happened to be his third goal against the New York Rangers this season. This matchup has been his bread and butter. Panarin’s goal was on the powerplay, so hopefully, this sparks the Blue Jackets specialty woes. Panarin has been special for the Blue Jackets and last night was just another example.

Postgame Question

There was one major question that came from the Blue Jackets and Rangers. This was what happened to David Savard. Savard was a healthy scratch against the Rangers which raises some eyebrows.

Savard has had some rough stretches this season, but Savard being a healthy scratch does not make much sense. This question is not one that was really answered, but the move did not bite the Jackets in the butt with them not giving up a goal.
