Many people expect the Columbus Blue Jackets to be contenders in 2017-2018, but some actually think that the CBJ have been set up to fail in the coming year.

The article I’m referencing comes from Bleacher Report. The author, Carol Schram, predicts to see the Columbus Blue Jackets come back to earth this coming season after a ridiculously successful year.

The reasoning behind this prediction is that the Jackets were pretty average after their historic 16-game win streak. Also, John Tortorella usually starts to wear out his welcome around this time in his tenure with other teams, so it’s not impossible to think that it will happen again in Columbus.

The Blue Jackets were one of seven teams that Schram predicted to disappoint in the coming season. Read the whole list and her reasoning for them here.

CBJ Destined for Stanley Cup Finals

Some, on the other hand, are more optimistic about the Blue Jackets for next season. Andrew Forbes of The Hockey Writers actually predicts that the CBJ will find themselves in the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals.

With the addition of Artemi Panarin, the continuing development of the CBJ’s young stars and Sergei Bobrovsky‘s incredible goaltending, Forbes isn’t scared to say that the Columbus Blue Jackets are destined for a cup final.
