Columbus Blue Jackets Fall Three Goals To None To The Vancouver Canucks
Columbus Blue Jackets put up 33 shots on Ryan Miller and the Vancouver Canucks but are shout out at home to start a seven game home stand. Inconsistency continues as the calendar move farther into February.
On a night when the Columbus Blue Jackets needed to come out aggressive and on their toes, they did. For all of three shifts. After that it was all Vancouver.
Columbus was unable to get one past Ryan Miller who turned away 33 shots and notched his 39th shutout in his NHL Career. The Jackets start off the seven game home stand with a loss and fall to third in the Metro with Pittsburgh’s win against the Avalanche.

The Jackets held the Canucks scoreless through a forgetful first period where no team was able to put their mark on the game. It wasn’t until 44 seconds into the second period where Daniel Sedin put away his 12th of the year on Sergei Bobrovsky. Eight minutes later the Canucks doubled their lead on a power play after Lucas Sedlak was called for tripping former Jacket Jack Skille.
Though outshot14 to 8 in the second, Vancouver was the team able to put away their chances. Ryan Miller put up a vintage performance reminiscent of his time in Buffalo. Henrik and Daniel Sedin were instrumental in the first two goals for the Canucks. The third and final goal scored by Jayson Megna halfway through the third.
Zero Emotion
Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said after the game he felt his team had zero emotion in this game. “Nothing happens right if you don’t play the game with emotion, and we’ve got to figure that out.”

Vancouver obviously were not going to elicit the same emotion that the Red Wings did on Tuesday. That said, starting off a seven game home stand in February to cement playoff position should have been motivation enough.
Columbus will regroup after an outdoor practice on Friday to take on the same Detroit Red Wings team they beat on Tuesday.
The chippy, hard fought game at Joe Louis Arena is still fresh in the minds of the CBJ. Columbus should play better Saturday but this teams inconsistency makes it difficult to project much.
