The contract negotiations between the Columbus Blue Jackets and center Ryan Johansen have been nothing short of bitter, and it seems like the talks haven’t been getting anywhere. Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch summed it up nicely:
Player/agent = "We're not doing a bridge." Club = "We're not going long-term." Player/agent = "OK, then, talk later." Club = "Yup." #parked

So, if Johansen wants a long-term contract, he thinks he is worth the years to the team. Management, on the other hand, seems to think he still needs to prove himself before he earns a long-term contract. They want a bridge. Johansen said a bridge contract is a “slap in the face”, and that is feels disrespectful to even offer him one. But, he is only 21.
Who knows how it will turn out, but for now, let us know what you think: should the Jackets give Johansen what he wants, or let him go?
