Who Do You Want The Jackets To Play In The Playoffs?

So there has been a lot of speculation on the part of Jackets fans as to who we might see them play in the Playoffs, assuming they make it this year. As a response, I want to know, who do you want to see them play? Here’s my input on the matter, be sure to vote in the poll below and leave a comment!

For starters, the game against the New York Rangers last week was one of the most fun hockey games I have been to. I think it would be really fun to see the Jackets face off against the Rangers in the post-season. Imagine the crowds! The way Rick Nash left the Columbus fans last Friday created a perfect atmosphere for his next Columbus appearance. Nationwide would be rocking. Plus, the Jackets and Rangers are a fairly even match-up, so we’d have some pretty good games.

Next, there’s Philadelphia. It’s possible the Jackets could see them in the Playoffs. The main storyline here is the return of Steve Mason to Nationwide against the Jackets. If these two teams played, it would be likely Mason would start at least once back in Columbus. Earlier this season, when the Flyers played at Nationwide, Mason didn’t start. There were cheers of “we want Mason!” from the crowd, but he didn’t play. I think it would be fun to see him back at Nationwide as well.

Then, there’s Detroit. The one and only team the Jackets have played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Detroit was Rival #1 for a few years, especially as the Jackets’ division rival. Now, however, there seems to be more focus from the fans on NYR instread, but I think a Jackets/Wings Playoff series might heat things up again. The Jackets got swept by the Wings last time these teams faced off, so they’d be looking to get payback. It would be fun for the Jackets’ first ever franchise Playoff win to come against the team that swept them before.

Of course, we have to get into the Playoffs first. There are other teams we could face, but in my opinion these would be the most fun match-ups. But what do you think? Vote and leave a comment!
