After the Olympic break, somewhat of a slump seemed to have a hold of our beloved Jackets, at least for one game. It appears now as though they have hit their stride, and at just the right time.

If the CBJ are to make the playoffs this year, this is the time to make a run. They sit just 1 point out of a wild card playoff spot, and 2 points out of a divisional spot. They took a big step towards the post season with a win over Toronto last night.

I really liked the intensity the boys had last night. When Toronto plays at home, the atmosphere is incredible and they always come out flying. The Jackets were able to match that through the first period, and then exceed it in the second.

Dalton Prout and Artem Anisimov‘s goals really upped the energy level for the Jackets, and even though Toronto scored in the third, I don’t think there was ever a chance they were coming back.

All things considering, this win is a lot more impressive than it may seem. Toronto just barely has a playoff spot, and they are chasing a divisional spot as well, so it’s not like they mailed this one in. No, they needed a win too, but they couldn’t match the Jackets’ intensity.

I’m proud of the effort the CBJ showed against Toronto, and I look forward to the same against Dallas.

My 3 Stars

  1. Sergei Bobrovsky-CBJ
  2. Artem Anisimov-CBJ
  3. James Reimer-TML

(Before you tear my head off for making Reimer a star, remember to give credit where it’s due. He played a great game, and actually earned an official star from the media. Besides, we got the win, give him the third star.)
