It’s that time again! With the month of January drawing to a close, it is time to assign a letter grade to the Columbus Blue Jackets for their performance during the month.
With last night’s win over the Washington Capitals, the Blue Jackets went 10-4 over the month of January. Eight of those ten wins came during a winning streak that saw the Blue Jackets set a new franchise record for consecutive games won. Besides the 6-2 loss to St. Louis and the 5-2 loss to Buffalo, the Jackets were within a goal of their opponents in the other two losses.
Things took a worrisome turn towards the end of the month, as after the winning streak ended with the loss to Buffalo, the Blue Jackets dropped their next two. The winning streak had quickly turned into a losing streak. However, last night’s 5-2 win over the Capitals has restored the faith.
Columbus started the month ranked 7th in the Metropolitan Division. They now find themselves in third with 58 points (they have the tie breaker over Philly, who also has 58 points). If the season ended today, they would hold one of the Wild Card spots in the playoffs.
This is the fourth month we are running this poll. In October, the result was a 74% (C), in November things dipped to a 62% (D-), and last month the Jackets were back up to 74% again.
We will continue to grade the Columbus Blue Jackets each month to get a clear view of the pulse of the Jackets fan base and how they feel the team is performing. Vote below and be sure to check back next week for the results!
