The Columbus Blue Jackets will be looking to snap their three game losing streak tonight against the Washington Capitals [U&B Pre-Game]. Before the face-off tonight though, lets take a look back at the eight game winning streak, and the current losing streaked that has ensued – specifically, is there anything that jumps out to you that has changed?
Beating teams such as the New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lighting, and Los Angeles Kings (just to name a few) is never an easy task, let alone beating those four teams during an eight game winning streak. Simply said, the Blue Jackets were on their game and it didn’t seem like anything could stop them. The power play was starting to click, Sergei Bobrovsky was standing on his head again, and the team was scoring goals! Then the Buffalo Sabres rolled into town.
Since losing to the Sabres the team has also dropped another two games, losing to the Carolina Hurricanes, and most recently the Ottawa Senators. They have also fallen back in the standings, their short stint towards the top of the division was not long-lived, and they now sit in fifth place. Several aspects of the Blue Jackets game has been absent during the last three match-ups, which can explain the ending of the streak, and the losses that followed.
Including tonight’s game, there are still 5 games to be played before the Winter Olympic break, that is more than enough time to get back into prime form. After facing the Capitals, the Jackets will host the Florida Panthers, and then they will head West before the break. On their venture West they will face the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, and the San Jose Sharks. It will be no easy task for the Blue Jackets to get back on track, but two wins at home could set them up for success out West.
